Default Got Cams - Now What?

So I had installed the Thumprs last month. They sound great, but cause I was using my stock CMCV's, Brenspeed had some trouble getting it tuned so the engine would run correctly.

Since then, I've put in CMDP's, re-tuned, world of difference now. Plus, no I'm able to use my Airaid without the sleeve insert, making it a 101mm MAF now. So I know these are not required for cammed cars, but do help it out. Running these mods without cams, doesn't offer much benefit.

So my question is, anyone with cams, did you do a Throttle Body like a BBK, or GMS? Assuming it works correctly, would there be any benefit, in combination with headers, large CAI, CMDP's, cams?

Which cams did you install? Are these the stage 2 NSR's (127200) or something more aggressive that requires springs? DId you do them yourself or had them installed (how much for the install)? I am considering on putting those on. I have done the CMDP's already. Felt some small difference on performance and sound already even without the cams and LTs. (plan to do them both but the price with install scares me.... I will attempt the LTs first.. DO not know much about the Throttle bodies.

I'd say a C&L intake manifold.

A TB is not really going to help you much. A larger single blade whipple TB only gains 4 rwhp over stock with C&L maniflold, Thumprs, CAI, and LT headers. It's only worth it for a centri.

The C&L is still listed as "pre-order yours today!" lol. When the hell are we going to be able to purchase this thing??? I plan to centri s/c anyway so I'm gettin' one when they're available.

And when does the june issue of mm&ff hit newstands? I'd love to read the article.

The article has some good information, but MM&FF has this nasty habbit of only telling you what the PEAK gains are without showing a complete before and after dyno comparison of both HP and TQ. 17HP on a bone stock car at 6500rpm doesn't mean much to someone who uses their car as a daily driver and only sees rpms higher than 4500 on an on-ramp. If gaining 17hp at 6500rpm means that I loose 10ft-lbs of torque at 3000, I think I'll save my money for something else. I'm not saying the product doesn't perfom as advertised, I just think MM&FF is more interested promoting one of it's advertiser's products than giving it's readers the whole picture. I was actually surprised to see them recommend against a TB.

Like many, I am very interested in this product, but I think I'll wait until I see a more quantitative results than MM&FF.

Agreed, on some points. I, personally will give up low end torque for high rpm hp gladly. With 300+ ftlbs of torque, 4.10 gears and the TR3650 my car moves up an on-ramp just fine. Maybe it's just me but I would rather have 370whp and 310wtq than 330whp and 320wtq.

I still have the stock TB. My mechanic said not to replace it because it wasn't beneficial.

Take a look at the JPC intake manifold. Its for sale now.

The problem with the JPC you need more expensive parts to use the thing, as if the manifold wasn't expensive enough. You dang near have to sell a kidney and your left nut to fund it all.

Even though it may take a little while longer to get the C&L, it flows better than any ported heads you can get now. Even Livernois stage 3 heads don't flow enough to take 100% advantage of the C&L. Plus at 750 to 800 it's priced not bad at all.
