Default stock mufflers restrictive?

Are the stock mufflers on the GT pretty restrictive in terms of performance?

I have the Pypes muffler delete kits, which are straight pipes and tips.

They sound good but I want to go back to the stock mufflers to have a stock sounding ride day to day then have the cut outs open for race nights.

No, they are not very restrictive. Either are the cats relatively speaking. The biggest restriction in the exhaust is the manifolds, and even those are pretty good for being manifolds.

noice.. it's weird because I really don't mind the sound of the exhaust cut outs, actually I prefer them over the pypes muffler deletes.

The funny thing is, that after listening to how bad *** the cut outs sound.. the pypes sound like farting noises in comparisson.. kinda like 'bbblllllaaaaah'.

At least with the stockers it sounds better IMO.

I wonder if it sounds worse than my exhaust setup, O/R X-pipe with stock mufflers.

dosen't sound that bad... but I either want a loud sound or no sound.

They kinda remind me of boomtubes in a way.

believe it or not, the stock gt exhaust is pretty friggin good for a stock car.. the stock manifolds are pretty decent, the whole system is 2.5 to begin with, cats are cats.. lol, and the mufflers flow well and sound good, though not loud. I know a few people who have the stockers with an or h and it sounds really nice!

Stealth, if you're looking at muffler deletes, I humbly suggest checking out SLP LoudMouth's for a stock manifold/midpipe setup. You might have to pay a little extra, but I've had them since October, and they're phenomenal. I have a video link in my sig.

it would be interesting to have a full exhaust system with a REALLY quiet exhaust set up.. even more so then stock, though I don't want to choke up any hp by doing so.
