Default Bent Axle

Hey guys -

I have a bent axle and am thinking about an aftermarket replacement, maybe something bigger/stronger.

What are my options here?

Who makes aftermarket axles?

How did you bend an axle and what are the symptoms of a bent axle?

Got run off the road and slammed my rear passenger wheel into the curb. Ran the car on a lift at about 50 mph and you can see the entire hub/wheel wobbling in and out.

You don't need an aftermarket axle, you simply need a stock replacement and a defensive driving course...

unless you plan on going +700rwhp, a stock 8.8 rear end replacement will do just fine

He probably just needs and axle shaft, not a whole new rear end.

Moose - Yes, just the shaft(s).

Modaddict - You could be the most defensive driver in the world and have some drunk T-bone you.

I would just get a stock shaft.

I recently had the same issue. Only my axle was slightly bent and couldn't feel it while driving down the road. However, the left rear (the bent axle) brake caliper would heat up so much that it chewed up the outer brake pad and would make an awfull squealing noise. I went with a stock replacement axle. Most of your aftermarket heavy duty axles ( I only know of the Moser axles) will require new over sized studs due to the larger holes in the flanges. Also most of these axles have a thinner flange and require modifications to your brake caliper. Advise- stock replacements, drive defensively, and never ever let your wife take the mustang. I also ended up with a slightly bent rim which needed to be straightened out.
