+1, GT500. With nothing but a smaller pulley and custom tune it's going to net you a solid 575-600 RWHP. And you can buy them for around what you spent on your 08 plus all the part and labor to get you to your desired RWHP. And with the GT500 you'd be able to say "yeah, it's a shelby!

What would be the difference, besides price obviously?
Price will not be that much different believe it or not. the OEM block would need to be honed and checked then built. If you were to go to a BBR block they are fairly cheap as you send them your block for a core.

The GT500 route is a decent idea. you can find a used low miles one for under $40K now and do a pulley swap, CAI and tune and get 500-550 whp

do a blower swap and injector swap and get 625-650 whp on the stock motor

I agree, if this were a goal of mine i would definitely check out a used GT500. Then at least youll have the pride in having a shelby
