just went outside, turned car on, turned brights on and had wife shine a halogen flashlight art that hole, lights did not dim, now this is a thought, .............what if that catches light that comes from rear reflects off windshield, bounces back into that hole works with the two that are in the part of mirror facing you?

I know Mustang don't have auto-dim High Beams ... but the Mirrors Ford Uses are generic GENTEX parts ... and they do indicate some of their mirrors work with auto-dimming High beams if the car is equipped with that function.

Did we ever answer the compass question? I believe that the compass sensor is in the rear-view mirror, if you unplug the wires coming into the mirror, you will lose the readout in the dash.

This might be a solution to you guys. I don't have the comfort package, but I wanted to at least get the homelink as my garage door opener is annoying and keeps flying off the visor and smacking me in the face if I accelerate in any way other than a grandpa pace.

I figured that was a good deal, as most of the other gentex ones were around the same price, and this is an OEM Ford part for half the price.

If all you want is Homelink, check out this thread. This is a great mod and will cost less too.

I looked at that as well, but the wider mirror, and the compass were also nice perks.
