Default Looking for clutch opinions.

Getting ready to pick up an Edelbrock Super charger on and want feedback from people who have changed their clutch. I want to change it before getting blown and have heard some F-ed up stories about shifting problems at certain RPM's . So I dont want to put a crap set up in and would appreciate any feedback.

Thank's

Here's MY opinion:

I have had the stock clutch, an RPS single disc and a Mcleod RST.

The stocker was good but it couldn't hold the power.

The RPS was more expensive than the Mcleod and the pedal pressure was ridiculous. It grabbed and held but it got the replaced.

The Mcloed RST is around $800 I beleive. It's a twin disc clutch. You can use your stock flywheel which was designed to be used with. It holds 800 hp, pedal pressure is like stock or close to it. Mine can be slipped easily and it does not chatter. I have made over 50 passes at the track launching off of a 2 step with 550 rwhp. No issues. Lots of g uys here have the Mcleod and have been very very happy.

There has been two companies that have been spoken about by some of us with crap clutches.

The Spec 2+, just do a search. Horrible can't begin to describe. The other versions Spec seems to make have not had issues like the 2+.

Some RAM clutches. Do a search here and other forums.

Whatever you do, do not go cheap. Pulling your tranny one time after install will cover any money youe save by buying something cheap.

Make sure get a custom tune done to your SC.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm thinkn the Mcleod even if I dont put that much power out. Have not heard the horror stories like i did about the Spec Clutches. Have actually seen alot of good stuff about the Mcleod's since I started doin research.

the mcleod rst is a great clutch no doubt
about it, i have it and it's holding up great.

there's a little rattling at around 1700 rpms,
but it's easy to minimize, by adjusting
your driving.

I replaced my stocker with a CF dual Friction.

The price was right as I was a bit tight on money. anyways, I just resurfaced my current flywheel and went with that.

The clutch is maybe 10-20% stiffer than stock. Still engages high like my stock clutch, but in the end, it is still a very easy clutch to use every day. I am very happy with it
