Default Shane's E-Force Install Thread

MustangForums Exclusive

In this thread, I will:
  1. Beg for help*
  2. Ask stupid questions
  3. Post install pictures
  4. Accept pats on the back

* No pressure here folks, I've also got support from JDM obviously and a few of you E-force veterans who have volunteered advice

I will be installing JDM's E-Force tuner kit with a 3.5" pulley (7-9psi on stock cars, 6-8psi on my car with longtube headers), dual GT500 fuel pumps, and Edelbrock's air intake upgrade.

I have received two big boxes of Edelbrock parts - the supercharger, and the box of accessories. I've checked off everything from the parts list and I seem to have everything.....except for 2 more boxes which are supposed to be there Thursday. I assume those boxes will have the air intake, fuel pumps, 3.5" pulley, tune, and JDM bling.

I hope to start Friday night if everything lines up. And you can watch it LIVE right here - http://www.ustream.tv/channel/edelbrock-e-force-install

OK, without further adieu, let's get the program started with item 1 from the above list - how do you use loctite? I've never used loctite before? Do you coat the bolt before threading and tightening? Cover the hole? Or just cover the threaded tip of the bolt AFTER it is already in and tightened?

Am I inspiring confidence yet?

learning experience. here's a pat on the
back from a fellow DIY'er, saying you'll
do fine.

Having a live video feed is cool. I don't know if anyone has ever done that before. This way, we can see you hurt yourself live! LOL!

The locktight goes on the threads, (assuming this is thread locker). A drop or so works well. You want to make sure the part of the bolt you put the stuff on is the part that gets screwed in to something, not covered by a collar or something. If it is a stud, you want to put it on the portion that the nut covers.

Good luck with your project, I will be keeping tabs on your thread as one day I hope to install one on mine.

Gotcha... (its blue loctite, BTW). Put the loctite on the bolt threads prior to the screwing...

Next question - Where and how does one measure fuel pressure on this car? I'm told a good way to handle my GT500 install is to do that part first before doing any supercharger stuff and verify it works. Jim Jr says verification means to measure fuel pressure (on both rails? where? how? ..would help if I'd SEEN a fuel pressure guage connection before....will be borrowing one of these) and make sure it is the same as before the install. I'll all JJ and ask him how. Just want to see what the board says.

I'm pretty sure my AeroForce interceptor gauges can measure that from the computer. But I doubt that helps you much.

From what I've read, it seems you have to tap into the shrader valve which is usually behind the fuel rails somewhere.

Your PSI wil be higher. Mine is the stock pulley and hitting 9 psi, maybe 10 @ 6500rpm. Also plan on getting a dyno tune for much better performance. I got on the line with my dealer when ordering the EForce and there were a lot of pieces missing from the Tuner Kit, it was actually more to add the pieces back in than the regular "complete" kit costs. If you know in depth what you are doing I guess you could sub out the missing parts. The GT500 pump setup was an ok install for me but i had to cut back the metal on top of my fuel tank to get the larger setup to go in the hole then bend it all back in place. Ford couldnt manage to make the access hole actually line up with the item you are accessing??

It might. I can data log with my SCT and livewire software. I'd be real surprised if that Aeroforce can log anything that my SCT can't. Of course the Aeroforce might be applying some formula to a handful a parameters and I'd be clueless about that.
