New guy. wants more HP
whats up guys! well this is my first real try at learning about cars other then simple oil changes. i have a 2007 auto GT mustang, and i want more hoarse power. i put a new BBK cold air intake on and now im wondering what to do next. think about new headers and and throttle body and possible new cat backs. anyone have any info for me on what would be the best route to go, i would really appreciate it.

The CAI won't do much w/o a tune. It'll also throw a CEL (Check Engine Light) for running lean. Other than going Forced Induction (FI), the CAI & tune combo is the about the biggest bang-for-the-buck at about 15-25 or more RWHP. The stock throttle body (TB) flows as well as an otherwise stock engine can handle so replacing the TB won't do much either, yet some report minor gains. LT headers will provide some gains and with cams are a good combo for extra power. Anything beyond the stock H pipe isn't going to gain any RWHP, just sound, since the stock exhaust flows quite well. There are a few other nickel and dime power adders (i.e., control motion valve delete plates) and power free-ups (i.e., aluminum drive shaft, under drive pulleys, weight loss) plus gears. w/o going FI, you can probably push around 320 RWHP unless you start working the internals.
Of course, if you have around $6k -$8k to spend, definitely go FI for ~425 RWHP minimum.

CAI w/ Tune (Bama for auto), LT's w o/r mid pipe, your a/b of choice, delete plates, cams, udp's, along with a 1 piece d/s and some 4.10's or 3.73 and your good to go!!
Also! You will prob. want to lower it a bit, some lca's with relo brackets, adj. pan hard, and maybe a uca.

Definitely agree that forced induction is the best bang for the buck. I am a strong Whipple believer, because the immediate high torque really changes the car's personality in a way you can enjoy whether you are commuting or racing. Yes it costs around $8K, but other modifications can also add up in terms of labor + parts, and don't remotely come close in terms of additional rwhp.

If you can hold out and save for it the whipple is very nice. My brother has it on his ShelbyGT/SC. The car acts completely different from any mustang I've ever driven. I know there are other modifications since it's a Shelby, but the Whipple really makes it a beast. Just remember you're running stock brakes if you do it. More power more stopping distance.
