Where did you find this info? I've seen other posts with this quote...no one seems to have a Ford source in terms of actual technical documentation.

You should be fine... I was actually told by the guys at Brenspeed that the weakest part of our auto tranny's is in actuality the 3rd gear synchros and the torque converter, which I have already swapped

There is no synchro gear for 3rd in a 5R55S. It uses a servo not a synchro.
I'm betting he just upgraded the converter.
I have upgraded servos (billett) installed from Level 10 in my transmission.
Synchro gears are used in manual trannies.

Hey Zkiller,
After you upgraded the internal weak spots and I assume the input shaft as well, how has the transmission functioned? Does it change drivability at all? What is the stall on your transmission? I'm curious to know since I may switch over to an auto eventually and will either put in a 5R55S or a 4R70W.

I know the 4r70 can be built to hold 1000 hp, you can put a trans brake in it, reverse manual or just have it shift itself. It all depends on how it's built from what I've heard.

I would also like to know the answer.

I used the Moroso catch can with breather from Summit. After all is said and done you'll be around $110 (can, fittings, hose, clamps). If I did it over again I'd just get the JDM. It's a nice piece and you get what you pay for. To the OP, I would suggest a JDM tune specifically because they run some very fast Stangs with the stock trans and they seem hold up fine.

Plenty of stock motor stangs have the stock at go as well as FI cars. Its a crap shoot. You have to pay to play!
