Newbie Header install 4.6 3 valve
Hey guys i have just gotten my car 2006 gt and already ordered an offroad x pipe with a full mid exhuast bullet system. I want to order longtube headers but am not really sure what ll is involved in 3 valve mustang header swap. Do you have to raise the engine or do they just unbolt and bolt back in ? any help would be appreciated

well you would have to loosen the 2 top motor mount nuts raise the engine with a jack remove starter motor wich consist of 3 bolts then will have to unbolt the motor mounts from the engine block on both sides, this is how i did it and it was a pretty straight forward install on the drivers side i unbolted and removed the steering shaft once all the above is done remove the old manifolds and put your new ones in search the forums as i think theres a right up on here on how how to do it with detailed steps and pics good luck.

A buddy of mine ordered the hooker long tube headers and said he just cut off his stock exhaust manifolds and the Hooker headers just bolted right in without having to lift the engine or unbolt anything. I believe they sell for around 700 to 800 dollars. I have no clue what midpipe he used.

just1news6,
Spend some time & do some reading on the subject, it has been covered many times on this & other Mustang Forums.
You'll need to remove the battery, starter, both motor mount brackets & sometimes the steering shaft. You have to jack the motor up to fit the headers in.
Tools needed besides standard hand tools include ratcheting metric wrenches & long extensions.
You may also need O2 extenders depending on the brand of headers & will need a tune for your PCM to turn off the rear O2 sensors.
Suggest not going with the mid-mufflers with LT's & no cats, the chambered mufflers sound better IMO with LT's.
Prepare for at least a 6HR project.
