HOOD 'DEFLECTION' AT SPEED
________________________________________
Hi, and firstly sorry if this has all been answered before. Go 100mph plus and the Hood looks like it wants to blow off. What's the fix? I'm living in the UK where the car is getting attention like you would not believe!! Embarrassing though when you are running past some euro crate and the guy looks at you as if you are about to self destruct :-)
thanks in anticipation.

Do a search for hood shake and you will find about 90 messages. Weed through the 30 or so that don't apply, then start reading. Bottom line, some do it, some don't. Ford has no stance on it.

If you are still afraid of it blowing off get hood pins.. that will hold it down if the hook was to fail. If you don't want it to flex, drill some holes in the hood...

Yep, that basically sums up the 90 messages hawgman was referring to. I also read something about the hood struts but they don't help any.

Didn't Homer Simpson do that? Put "speed holes" in his car? with a pick axe???

No idea, but wouldn't put it past him.
