Default Questions about Predator Tune??????

Ok I have a few issues with my predator tune. My first question is I put it on 91 and modify the tune a bit to extend the rev limiter aswell I increased the idle RPM to 1200 and my dad was saying that if I leave it like that it will reduce the life on my motor because it is requiring more fuel and cant burin it quick enough etc is this true or is there no problems with having the idle set at 1200. Also when you drive the car and run it out a bit there is a pinging type noise at higher rpms so I was just checking to see if you guys new what was up. It just doesnt seem like it has the power it did at higher rpms just checking to see if you guys had any ideas. Or should I have it taken down for a custom tune on a dyno.

Thanks John

woah! "Bobby" on another thread is also complaining about "pinging" at 4500rpm with the canned 91 octane predator tune. Is there more to this?

I had some pinging on my 93 octane tune also so I backed the timing in th 4-6k area off by 1 and it was fixed. Just curious, why would you want your idle at 1200 anyway?

Thanks for the help hopefully I can get this figured out. I put the idle at 1200 because Im a big muscle car fan and have a 70 mach 1 aswell as a 65 gt and I just love the burble sound you hear from them at idle and with my side exhaust it is sweet to hear the exhaust burble echoing off of cars next to me. And I just wanted to know if it is hurting my engine in the long run.

Thanks John

I doubt the idle up higher is hurting your engine... your engine revs higher than that when you drive it.. and when you drive long distances, it is higher than that for longer periods of time...

Well in that case I can't think of any reason it would hurt your engine, mabey your gas mileage a little but not your engine.
