Default Ambient Air Temperature Sensor Function

This sensor is located (at least on the 2010) in the lower grill on the driver side. Aside from providing data for the display of the outside temperature; does it provide data to the PCM or other control module for any other purpose?

Your 08 has a temp sensor and a barometer and they don't have a dash display for it? Wow, that was really stupid on their part. They should have put that in the display cluster. I don't even know if my 09 has that, but I assume it does if it's standard or part of the premium pkg.
