As preventive maintenance, I think it is a good idea to add a product such as Iso-Heet during the winter in order to remove moisture from the gas tank. Get the stuff with isopropyl alcohol; it is better than the products (such as Heet) that use something else.

In some cases, your car may be running fine. Then you add the Iso-Heet and experience some engine roughness for a while. That's okay. It just lets you know that there was some water in the fuel and the water is being expelled, rather than just accumulating in the tank.
