Hey guys i have a 2009 mustang gt with 9,000 miles and am in jersey so you know it has been very cold. The first time i start the car in the morning the engine is making a weird sound almost like a washer machine. it is very distinct. it seems to only be happening the first time you start the car in the morning. im not sure what it could be.. belt..pully?

I'm in Jersey, too. On a cold start up mine sounds kind of like a diesel engine for a few minutes,( cackling, ticking sound), then as it warms up, it gets quieter. Its just the valvetrain noise, I wouldn't worry about it (If the noise you're hearing is the one I described).

The only strange noise I've have seems to have been fixed by replacing the FEAD idler pulley. TSB details are below. It didn't sound like a washing machine, but more like a whistle, like a train or kettle.
