1. What power/torque increases can typically be expected with both shorties and LTH?

2. Is the power increase linear or observed more at either end of the RPM range?

With just a cai and tune LT's would give I'm thinking something like maybe around 15 and you should see it more in the top end it wont be linear but more desireable for racing

Shorties are I think more torque than HP and will more so be in the low end but in most cases is not more than 10 despite what the MFG's say on thier web sites. Shorties really are mainly sound, the stock manifold on these cars breath pretty well considering.

The other thing to consider with LT's is that they are not smog legal in every state so be sure of your states smog laws before dropping 1500 on a set of kooks it's to big a job to pull them every 2 years for inspection. Cali is particulalry harsh.

I've narrowed my choice down to Pypes LT's with off road X pipe from Brenspeed. My question is, will a re-tune be necessary or is it simply a matter of bolting the kit on? Thanks.

You will need a re-tune due to the O/R X-Pipe. The LT's will not require a re-tune unless the O2 sensors are located further downstream, then you may need a tweak on the O2 circuit timing.
Brenspeed should provide a re-tune free with your purchase.

That is basically what Brenspeed told me yesterday when I ordered my pypes longtubes, H midpipe and a set of HF cats.

They will write you a tune if you throw a code. No biggie!
Cant wait to get those on my car!!

Kooks LTs FTW. Love mine. No regrets, and they'll perform, and sound awesome as soon as I get my cams.

Did you get a tune for the headers or leave it stock?

ok, I see in your signature you have a "custom Bama tune." What does that mean exactly? Do you tell them what you have and what you want and they email you a tune or do they actually put your car on the dyno?

Thanks!

First I really buy them for the chrome finish, so its not a concern. This car is a monthly track car for me, not a show car (that would be my truck). Secondly its 304 polished stainless steel headers and the h pipe is 409 stainless. Not the same.
