If your not getting headers for a show car and you just want the extra flow and sound, is it really worth getting ceramic? I really wanna pull the trigger on the pypes LTs with off road h for $680. My old O2 extension's removed the MIL light. Do these O2 extension do the same? If so, is this tricking of the computer going to hurt the engine in any way? I am sure i would just get tune but if i didn't, would it matter?

The ceramic does keep the temps down quite a bit in your engine bay. I installed Kooks 1 3/4" LT's and go them coated and I think it's actually cooler in my engine bay than it was with the stock cast manifolds.

But whats the big benefit of keeping the temperature down under the Hood? I know thats noob question. Lets say all you have is LT's, off road h, tune and CIA, if you don't plan on doing much more, is the extra 600 bucks worth it for ceramic headers? For the cost of kooks, you could get Pypes combo and tune CIA combo. I mean even brenspeed seems like they recommend Pyle's over kooks.

I can't say how much horsepower it can relate to, but with a cooler engine, you will have cooler coolant, cooler air intake temps and even cooler oil all coming together to give you power power and less heat soak to the engine.

These engines hate heat soak and I used to experience that at the drag strip when I tried hot-lapping which was doing a run, then another run right after that. I have seen as much as 2 or 3 tenths slower times when my engine was overly warm.

It's just part of the equation, but it all helps.

Niether Kooks or ARH come ceramic coated unless done by the vendor you get them from i.e. Maryland Speed offering Jet Hot. I think right now they are offering some coatings free of charge. I emailed ARH about this once and they claimed it wasnt needed on thier headers but like Kooks, ARH are quite expensive. If you want cats with the pypes you save about 350-450 depending on the cats you get still not a bad savings.

I have a friend with a 74 dodge dart.

He laughs out loud every time I show him how much we're paying for headers.
