Turbo what do you think?
I am starting my research for a turbo for my 09 GT... I would like input from the forum as to what has worked for people. I prefer a single turbo for cost reasons and am looking at putting down about 450rwhp. I look forward to input as the forum's in general are great places to get honest information.
why not
We use the Powerhouse single. Great product and service. Their base unit is a 67mm...good up to about 650 rear wheel with the appropriate build, so lots of room for growth, down the road.
A lot depends on how you will use the car...all street....street/strip....strip/street. Don't be seduced into buying too large a single for your application. There is lag between for example a 67 and a 76.

If you want a daily commuter and more HP why not buy a turbo. It just seems like the best option to use free energy. Someone did a write up on a forum that gave sc vs turbo prices and hp/$. Maybe try to google it. Its an awesome thread. I'd like to go turbo if I ever have the money to go FI
Do you need to be emission compliant? The only turbo kit that is emission legal is the Turbonetics kit but the Hellion kit connects after the cats also and would pass a visual inspection. I don't really like these kits for this reason, if you have a cat fails all the junk goes into the turbo. If you don't care about an inspection then I think the Powerhouse kit is the best currently available for our cars. Now if you want to step up to a twin setup, that would also pass the visual inspection, then call Jim Napier at Turbohorsepower.com. Jim also makes a good single kit at a god price but I think the Powerhouse single kit is a little better.

A good turbo setup can be more emissions compliant, if tuned correctly.
There's a good reason why Ford is pushing their EcoBoost engines...it sets them up to be compliant with the stricter emissions and fuel efficiency numbers they will have to meet.
Yes, it won't have anywhere near the same feel or sound of a supercharger, or even the same torque curves, but they do work very well when setup correctly.
I don't know much about the kits for the Mustangs, but a good dual-scroll setup would be the best if you want to get around the turbo lag issues that is inherent in a lot of setups. The good setups do require a properly designed manifold to take advantage of the dual-scroll turbos though.

i have the hellion kit with out the cats and love it also look at the on 3 perfomance kit. i have installed one on my friends fox body and it is a great kit for the money, no matter what other people say about the kit.
Why indeed?
Now you've started the great debate all over again.
I could see a turbo charged mustang in my future, but it will come from the factory with one. After several years and 20,000 miles on my whipple, without a single problem with the kit, I know I made the right choice for my daily driver.
I bet if we took a poll, we would find that the majority of blowers are older guys and the turbos are the young kids. I blame the stupid fast and the furious movies, which every single one blew, pun intended.
