Default SCT problems loading tune.

I had my car to the ford dealership the other day for a replacement hood ( the old one was rusting ). During the visit I had the Air Bag TSB done. I purchaced a new filter and was getting ready to install it and decided to run through my tunes before I replaced the filter. I went to load the stock tune and the car went limp and would not start. I tried to load another tune and the programer said unable to load tune. Did ford screw me and reset/reflash my computer? I was able to get the car started..... dont know how I did it, but it seems to still have the 93 tune in it cause it still shifts hard( auto ). Please help....it's been awhile since I have been on here, good to be back!!!!

sounds like they changed your strategy. I'm not sure what's the easiest way to fix it. You'll probably need to contact your tuner for a new strategy.

I think if they changed the strategy they would have reflashed the whole PCM with a stock tune, but I'm not sure. They could have just updated your strategy I suppose. If you put the stock tune back on and it went limp, how is it running on the 93 tune if the programmer was unable to program?

I would agree with this also whei they flashed mine for the airbag recall I know they didnt change anything because 1st I asked and made sure it wouldnt change anything important and 2nd I had to disconnect my battery and reload my tune for a CEL I had(cleaning the MAF fixed the CEL). No reason for them to change the strategy when doing the airbag update, you should be able to check it with the SCT and atleast match your code now to what you had before, if it matches you have something else wrong. To my knowledge though if you had flashed with the wrong strategy code you wouldnt even get it started.

I just got an email from Dave at brenspeed and was informed that if the SCT tuner is not used for a long period of time the tuner may take a few tries to become friendly with the PCM again. I will try and reload the tunes this coming Monday when I have free time and just incase I cant get the car started. I will keep you all informed and TY for the replies.
