Default Another Cold Air Intake

Has anybody seen the new K&N AirCharger (#63-2565)? I haven't seen the price yet, but they are claiming 15 HP increase. In fact they have a dyno chart (http://www.kandn.com/dynocharts/63-2565.pdf) that shows 15.26 HP increase on a 5-spd (I assume they mean manual, since they are all 5 speeds!) GT.

When I asked them about flashing the computer to account for the increased airflow, they responded with, "there is no need to re-flash the computer with the K&N intake kit." Does this mean there is NO increased airflow? Where did that 15 HP come from?

I had seen other CAI that claim no re-flash required. From initial tests done a while back by some magazines they mentioned that the Mass air was very sensitive to changes in the airflow, so unless they figured out a way around that, maybe by placing the MAS in a different location or orientation I would think that a tune would be required. (Or maybe these other companies that sell the CAI with the predator or another tune is pulling a fast one on us)

I wonder how much the cold air kit gives? or is it the re-tune that is really making the difference.

It probably leaning out the car! Stock tune is very rich from the factory so in theory, this intake could make more hp, but a tune is still recommended for max safety and max performance

yeah i think the most power increase comes from the reflash. from what i understand these motors respond well to more timing. i dont think i would try just the cold air kit without the retune.
