Default Exhaust time

So ive been looking around at a new axleback exhaust, and I dont know which one I am going to choose. I have heard some rumors that SLP loudmouths cut the power of a 4.6L 3v because of the backpressure. But i want a loud throaty exhaust. What does flowmasters have? are they good for deep loud throaty, while not cutting any power?

Go with SLPs. Who ever said SLPs will cut power is full of crap. They sound awesome with the stock set-up. Flowmasters sound good and are little louder than stock. Flowmaster A/T just may affect performance. Two of my friends with S197s went to the 1/8 mile strip. Both were running constant 8.7XXX at 81.XXX. The next time at the track one of my friends replaces his stock axlebacks with flowmaster A/T. He was now running 9.1xxx to 9.2XXX at 79.XXX while my other friend was still running 8.7XXX at 81. The only difference was the flowmasters.

I'm biased to the FRPP Stingers which are clones of the Borla stinger mufflers. Very deep sounding and do get loud when you get on it.

The stock mufflers flow very well and the only way you'll lose back pressure is when you remove the cats, but you will gain top end so it's kind of a trade off. You can always make up for that with doing gears.

Imo there is no right combo for loud and throaty for our 3v's. I believe the idea of a muffler delete reducing power. I have run my o/r h combo with no mufflers before and you can tell right away that there is less torque down low. It's noticeable for sure. Take the factory mufflers off and run it a bit to see if you like the sound. Not the exact same, but close enough to try for free.
