FYI, there is a warning label on the FRPP box that says it's for "off road use" only. As to why they refuse.. well, go find a mustang shop. Screw the stealership.

One of the local mustang shops here wants $450 for labor only.

I am going with a recommended installer that does jobs on Saturdays.

No that's ridiculous. Like someone else said you will be in higher rpms driving, not completely true. Maybe on the freeway but nowhere else. Your still gonna shift at the same rpm's. That's like saying manual mustangs polute more than autos because they are lower geared in theory yes but in real life no.

And as far as more emissions at any given speed isn't true either. Lets say instead of cruising at 55mph in 3rd gear at 3k you will be in 4th gear at 3k....same amount of exhaust... see what I'm saying.

incorrect

say you are used to cruisin a road at 40 mph with 3.31 thats about 2200 rpms in 3rd gear

now you install 4.10s...you are now going about 33 mph at 2200 and would need to be going 2600 rpms to go 40 mph assuming you do not shift. you have to shift into 4th gear at this point and would be around the same 2200 rpms

The point is it doesnt matter highway or not, your rpm and shift points can different depending on the gearing and speeds you want to be at. So you statement doesnt really hold true

was quoi ted $1400 by the dealer i bought the car from back in jan. 09. i ended up going to a performance shop and told me to go buy the frpp 4.10 "A" $160 and he said he would guarantee a good install with no whine. i ended up paying him $360 labor, $135 bearing kit, $50 lube and relube $135 to keep warranty after 200 miles. gears now whine and he says if backlash is still .009 and wear pattern is still in middle i bought a bad set of frpp gears. that's now between me and ford. TOO BAD!!! btw the now has 5600 miles on odometer!! OP:you dont have it nearly as bad as i have!! car has 5600 miles, on my 3rd set of chip foose nitrous wheels($300 each). 1st set dealer was doing ford thunking front suspension tsb and dropped my car off the rack and bent front wheels as the lug nuts werent tight. i have them checked on a road variation machine. front two were bent and they agreed to pay me $636 for new ones. 2nd set tire shop installing TPMS sensor bands chipped chrome off all wheels 4 1/2" out from center on each spoke. they admiited they did and bought 4 new wheels $1300 and when i changed the tires onto new wheels there were 2" cuts in the beads on all 4 tires. they bought new tires also. $2200 damage in all!!!! NIGHTMARE!!!!!!

I paid $350 for brand new frpp gears, install, and a tune to correct the speedo. While the guy was in the pcm he asked if I wanted anything else changed, so I had it tuned for 93, and turned my cats off incase my MIL's fail.

Deal of teh century.

PM me and I will tell you where, OP.
