Question Transmission Problem?

well, i'm not sure exactly what could be the cause of this, so i wanted to get some additional opinions.

a couple days ago, i was sitting with the car in park (engine running) on a very slight incline. i was stopped for about 5 minutes when out of nowhere the rpms dropped a little (kind of like when you switch from being in gear to neutral) and i rolled backwards a couple of inches. when i stopped, the rpms went back to a normal idle speed (the whole thing only lasted 2-3 seconds).

this is the first time it's happened and am pretty much clueless on why something like that would happen; so any thoughts on the matter would be appreciated

tech data: 2005, automatic, ~20k miles; i know i was in a 'solid' park and not in neutral or floating between gears

thanks

Only thing I could think of is maybe you got some water in your fuel. Might be good idea to put some additive in your fuel to remove any moisture from the tank. Then see if it ever happens again.

A/C compressor kicking on maybe? Was the defroster on? Just a thought. I wouldn't worry about it. Doesn't sound serious.

i usually put fuel additive in on a regular interval basis, so there shouldn't be any moisture... unless the stuff i use doesn't work... or i forgot a round

a/c was off and the windows were down, so that wouldn't have been it either... but the way the rpms dropped were similar to when the compressor kicks in; they just dropped more than 'usual'

hopefully it was just a one-time ordeal; i haven't had any problems since, fortunately
