Problem with Cruise Control on 05 GT
Hey everyone, i recently got a 2005 mustang gt with a little under 10k miles on it, so it was parked for about 3 years with little use. The car is in great shape, and (knocks on wood) everything is perfect on it with one exception. The cruise control hasn't worked on it since i got it. The previous owner claims that it worked perfectly when he had it, but im not sure if it did. i have had it in the shop several times and they cant find anything that is bad or needs replacing. we have checked the ohms of the buttons on the steering wheel, at the computer. i have replaced both the brake position switch, and the transmission position switch. They have plugged it into their computers and it didnt show any error codes. can anyone think of anything else that could be wrong with it? we have tested every sensor in the car, and the only problem we found was that the transmission range switch would display correctly in the park, reverse, neutral, and MAN1-2 positions, but it showed ERROR in both Drive, and MAN3, so we replaced that switch but it is still showing the same error. the check engine light isnt on, however it shows an error in my mechanic's handheld computer. he thinks it is showing error because it isnt the actual ford handheld computer, it is just an aftermarket one. BTW, he is an ASE certified mechanic friend of mine, so he knows what he is doing, haha. any help would be greatly appreciated!!!! thanks!!

sorry to bring up a dead thread, but i wanted to post what was wrong with my car in case anyone else has this trouble. i have been fighting with ford since my last post, and they finally fixed it about a week ago. i found out the previous owner had purchased an extended warranty so i had that transfered to my name and everything was repaired for free, it just took the 3 ford dealerships i went to thsi long to figure out what the problem was.
they replaced both of the brake control switches, the gear select switch, and had to reprogram my car's computer. it also had an issue with shifting, and the reprogram fixed that also.
hope this helps someone!
