Default Sunday AM Update

Ok, we put in about 9 hours with a small break for lunch. Got everything taken off. Wanted to toss into a giant pile like Stacy David on "Trucks" but couldnt do it! LOL It all came off easy and even the heater hose wasnt that difficult. Used a long curved neck set of pliars. We are at the point where you install the intercooler. All the hard stuff has been completed.

Highlights.

Hacking the wire harness, was not at all as difficult as I thought it would be. It just sounds itimadating.
Installing the injector clips properly was a challenge. Trying to get them to line up and click into place on both sides of the clip was tricky. Of course they are really small and we are old so maybe it was just our bad eyes! LOL I put on a set of gloves cause those clips are sharp and it was painful to get them to move around.
Cutting the ears off the alternator was really easy. The hack saw sliced through that like butter.
Cutting the corner out of the heater hose bracket was way more challenging. My friend Wayne worked on that for about an hour. We filed the edges smooth and sprayed some black paint over the raw metal.
Using the fuel disconnect tool was tricky. First of all Napa sold me the wrong size, so I had to go get a different one. Then trying to figure out how it worked took a few minutes. But once we figured it out it came off easy. Sometimes you just have to re read the directions several times, really look at what your supposed to do, slow down and it comes to you.
The inside of the TB spacer had some really nasty rough edges, so we smoothed em out with a drill and wire wheel.
Tucked the exposed wires into some flex wire conduit to give it a pro clean look. Well spent $3.00!!!

Everything else was just easy. Mounting the intercooler, degas bottle, water pump. Oh I used that piece of foam double stick between the water pump and bracket to eliminate any rattling. Swapped out spark plugs. They came out easy since I had just taken out the stockers 6 weeks ago.

Over all its been good. Gonna go finish shortly. My freinds didnt want to start at sun up again! LOL Here are a few pics I took.

Thanks for the update. As you know I'm awaiting your outcome before I pull the trigger on the M90.

I think I know your decision already..........LOL

This install I would say even though more steps is nowhere near as much as a PITA as the longtubes install. We were joking about that all day.

Default Blown Baby

We are done. Everything went in fine. Amazing how it all is so well thought out and fits. Installed the jdm tune and started her up. All good. Then installed the wideband. It took longer than I thought but we got it working.

Took it around the block a few times. Not enough room for long full throttle pulls but OMG that blower kicks in and starts screaming......hold on baby. Talk about bolt on power!

I park it then restart it to take some gauge shots and then I noticed the cel light up. Ah ****. Read the code and it's saying I am lean. I think it was a p0176. The wideband at idle was running 14.3-16.0. I didn't really look at the gauge while getting on it so I can't say what it was reading then. So now I am concerned. We heard zero pinging. Car runs like a champ. I plan to call jdm Monday morning. It may be nothing but for safety I left the car at my warehouse and drove my truck home.

I did not hook up the boost gauge as I wasn't exactly sure where to splice it in. I have an idea but wanted to ask you all first. Ideas?

Total install time was 13 hours or so. We work slow. LOL Here are some pics. I took one video but it was short I will post it up later. First pic is the water pump location.

the boost bypass valve should have a red vacuum/boost line connected to it. if you follow that line, on the drivers side there will be a point where the line "y" and there is a rubber plug. pull that plug out and that is where you tap the boost/vacuum gage in

hopefully the CEL is nothing much. sounds like you had a blast for the install

woo whoo! Got the M90 in

Can't wait to see some more vids of her in action!

These M90 installs really do look great! The ads online really don't do this kit real justice until you see them live under the hood in one of these threads..

Ok I am gonna need a pic for reference to find that. I will search around. Could the cel be a leak somewhere causing the lean condition?

This is my first boosted vehicle. Man when that hits, its babaam!@#$%^&* and your flying!! Unreal.

Gah I love that whine!

Making me more and more tempted when this car is paid off.
I just wonder if my current mods would make the M-90 dangerous
for my car or not work to well with them.

Wonder if the price will drop more in a year or two also.
