Unhappy Battery Issue / Help :(

I just left my house now and attempted to start my car. I noticed my remote alarm did not work when i pushed on the button. I attempted to unlock the door using the alarm and that did not work either. I had to unlock the door using my key. I jump in and try to turn it over, the car doesn't. My heart sinks to my stomach and I almost keel over. I try again and the car wont turn over but it makes this weird noise from the dash much like a vachume or something. I have never heard this noise before. I tried a couple more times and it keeps making some sucking vacume type noise. I don't remember leaving any lights on last night so i don't know what the problem is. Im assuming the battery has never been changed and needs to be replaced. I hope thats the issue, and i will purchase another one if need be. The only reason why i think it might be the battery is that when i leave the key on the on position, after about 2 minutes or so, the dash turns off. So i assumed its the battery.

Has anyone experienced this before ? And what power battery do i need to replace the one i got should it need replacing ? Thanks

Given the age of your car, it is most likely a dead battery... As for what battery to get, I would recommend contacting your local Interstate battery retailer and tell them what you have... They should be able to look it up for you... Probably cost around $100.

The OE battery is garbage. Have it replaced and also, it would be wise to have your alternator load tested. One can sometimes take out the other.

Sounds like a dead battery. Mine did exactly the same thing except in the middle of winter. You can take the battery to the auto store (not sure what you have in Canada) but they will (normally) test it for free and let you know if it's a goner.

I tried many things and finally found a solution. I put the factory tune back in the car cause i thought that might have been the reason. That didn't work. I then reloaded with my 91 race tune, which was the same result. I then practically s--t my pants cause i didn't know what to do. So I call up the Ford dealer where my car was bought and speak to someone from service in regards to a new battery. He tells me that he will charge me $150 for a new battery + $50 install + towing fees + $10 for taking my old battery which he will probably refurbish + taxes. Keep in mind , this is the same son of a b--tch I bought the car from brand new at almost 45 GRAND!!!!! So I say f--k that cause its outrageous and wrong on so many levels.

I call up my wife with her 2009 VW City Golf and ask her for a boost. I go buy booster cables at the dollar store and buy them for $ 4.99 (great deal) and VIOLA, the car turned over and all is well.

What pissed me off about this whole ordeal is why the dealership was literally trying to rape me for just a simple plain Jane old battery. $50 bucks for installing a battery, WTFFFFFFFFFFFFF men!!!!! Anyway, I hope that dealer goes out of business. I wrote out a lengthy letter to Ford customer service to voice my complaints since I am brand loyalist and had 8 Fords in my life. Sorry for the venting, but I cant believe they did me like that.

Just keep in mind IF the battery will hold a charge. Being that old and a deep discharge like what you just had, it is probably gone. Again, go get your battery tested.

Interstates are the best. I know where I work has a range of $89.99-$119.99. The pricer ones are the Megatron Plus batteries, but you will not find anything better. I know at least for our store, they have a 2 or 3 year free replacement with pro-rating up to 5 years after that. And you can go to any place that sells Interstate batteries and they will honor the warranty.

Also, for batteries, you get what you pay for. Interstates aren't anywhere near being the cheapest, but the cheapest won't last you very long.

The place should have a book that displays the direct replacement for the one you have. I know my v6 has 650 CCA, but I have no clue if it is different than GTs off the top of my head. But yeah, I would recommend going with the direct stock replacement.
