Default plug choices

i have the brisk 3vr14s they are one step colder then stock. i am thinking of going 2 colder 3vr12s from brisk. what exactly does the different cold ranges do for the engine? will a colder make it fire better at wot? thanks jeff

The heat range of the plug is actually how much ceramic insulator is on the plug. More ceramic = more retained heat on the rest of the plug. The reasoning for the colder plug is as you add more power, the temperature of the plug can increase substantially unless it is vented off leading to detonation. Too cold and the plug could foul and cause inefficient combustion. So unless there is a mechanical reason to go down another range I wouldn't.
