The NT05's are a little better in the dry and are slanted toward cornering and handling.

The NT555's are a little better in the wet.

There are slight differences in things like noise.

The NT05 street tire is NOT the same tire as the NT05R drag radial. The NT05R is a dedicated competition tire with just enough "legality" to be DOT approved.

lol. man I just ordered the 295/45/18's off the web, so I didn't have to talk to anyone. Thinking they were $208 a side and free shipping...no taxes

Norm, If the NT555's are only a little better in the wet, then I will get the NT05's. I was concerned that there might be a massive difference in the wet. So much so that I would have to tip-toe around in the wet. Maybe that is not the case? BTW - I've run the 555's before on my previous car (Acura TL) so I am familiar with them. Just wondering if the NT05's are "streetable" because I like the way they look and the dry performance should be excellent.

To clarify my original post, I was never interested in the NT05(R) because I know that tire is not intended for a daily driver. And, I will be purchasing 19" tires that are going to be more expensive. 275/35-19 to be exact.

Everyone - Thanks for all the good info.

In damp to wet pavement, I doubt there's much difference. But once you get shallow standing water and puddles, the 555's should be better. When you get into still deeper water, it may not matter again with those 275-wide tires. They'll all float if you're carrying any speed.

You will have to be a little gentler with the throttle, particularly on corner exit.

If it helps any, Nitto rates the wet performance of the NT05 (3 on a 5 point scale) closer to the NT555 (3.5) than to the NT01/NT05R competition tires (1.5). FWIW, they give the Invo's a 4.
