honestly I don't know, I doubt it written on there, so maybe one of these radio gurus can tell you if theres a difference with the pin configuration between the 500 and 1000. but a thought though, can you just rip off the dash kit, or pull it back just a bit, the logo is just right above the cd slot.

I've tried to tug on it, it's on there pretty good. I think it's been on the car a few years. I'm afraid to take a hair dryer to it to heat up the glue and damage the stereo even more then it already is.

I've done that too and they look the same on the back.

I noticed the same thing when I googled the radio. I was hoping someone here would be more knowledgeable but I don't think this particular section gets much traffic compared to the main page.

I finally got the nerve and took the dash kit off of the Radio faceplate and it indeed does say Shaker 1000 underneath. I think the head unit may just be not working correctly because when I had it out the Part number on the back is that of a shaker 1000 as well, but I have no option in the menu for the shaker on/off and my speed volume control doesn't work either.

Question

My '09 has the Shaker1000, and there is a factory external amp behind the left kick panel. Is that for the Sub, or the door speakers?

Yup, that's the AMP for the Door subs. There are also 4 amps in the back with the subs for the subs.

I would look over the entire car carefully, if the previos owner put in something wrong there probably is something else wrong. You can always take it back to the dealer. I think regardless you should have anywhere from 1mo. to 3mo on a return. more if you got a warranty through ford. Or go with the other opinion and throw in your own. I didnt like the whole idea of shaker. nothing wrong with it. I just wanted alot more base, putting in 2 12 and 2 amps for a total of 2200wts. just my opinion though. Do whats best for you and your lifestyle.

I kind of want the factory radio to work. It looks like new so I don't see why it wouldn't work.
