I love TCS in snow. Without it the tires just spin forever. With it on I can get the car to inch forward slowly until I do eventually find traction. It is annoying to use since it makes clunking noises when the tires are stopped suddenly but it does help take off on icy roads. Going up a hill with it on does eventually slow or stop your car but I found out that most hills that I can't get up with TCS on I wouldn't have made it up with it off even with a running start.

My 06 went through many Jersey winters and I didn't find any difficulties. I do not drive with TCS at any time. You can definitely tell when your car is starting to lose traction and can simply let off the pedal and it'll regrip, where as sometimes TCS will cutoff your throttle in some hairy moments (like going up a hill, or entering an intersection) Have also driven through a Virginia ice storm. I guess I'm a little confused on why everyone has difficulty driving in the snow.
