Default Manual Trans Fluid swap

Yesterday I swapped out the factory ATF and put in 3.2 quarts of Amsoil ATF. The car does shift a bit smoother going from first to second. All the other gears felt smooth prior so I don't notice a difference. The fluid looked and smelled clean and the drain plug was clean no shavings.

did the earlier models of Stangs have that 1-2 shift notchyness/stiffness as well?

I used to complain a bit when I first got my car ('12 gt) but I've gotten pretty used to it. But I wouldn't mind having smoother shifts in general.

Did you change the fluid yourself? I heard it's not that complicated but I would feel safe getting it done at a dealership.

Very easy on an 08. Mine did have a clunky 1st to 2nd. I used Assail universal ATF. It took about 30 mins. Your owners manual will give you the correct amount to add.

How many miles were on the fluid when you changed it? I changed my factory fluid around 35k. Still looked good, a little discolored, but nothing bad. Also replaced with Amsoil ATF

I put GM synchromesh in mine and while I noticed a slight improvement right away, it really took the course of a month to really notice how much it improved. It gets gradually better over the first few weeks I believe. When I drove my buddy's with ATF in it, was when I really noticed how drstically mine had improved.
