K&N tune for Predator

K&N tune for Predator
I FINALLY got all of my parts in and I just found I have to get a special tune from Predator to use my K&N CAI. I decided against the C&L because they get so hot (inside and out) at the track. I know the K&N will stay cooler and besides it was cheaper. So now I guess I have to send my tuner out and get a re-tune specifically for use with the K&N.
And for those who were wondering, I tried the 87 octane tune and it spark knocks like mad under full load

RE: K&N tune for Predator
I just ordered my K&N CAI & Predator this week and am expecting it to arrive tomorrow. I ordered mine from rpm outlet and it was a package deal. They said they are including a P.C. hook up. Am I going to have to download a tune as well or is it going to be ready to go. Where did you order yours from? Cost?

RE: K&N tune for Predator
you will have to d/l a tune, but you can not get one from predator or RPM outlet. I am going through the same thing right now, the only tunes available for d/l are for the Steeda and C&L. I installed the 91 octane tune and backed the 2-4k timing down 1 degree and the 4-7k timing down .5. If you happen to come across a K&N specific tune, please let me know.

I got mine through RPM outle as well $499.90 to my door

RE: K&N tune for Predator
Steve,
How is that working for you? I am waiting for my parts to arrive today and am curious to see how they are going to work. I called K&N and they to their knowlege you don't need a specific tune to run the CAI. I tried to call RPM but their tech support is evacuated due to the hurricane. How did predator's basic 91 octane tune work for you. Why did you have to ajust the timing manually. When you did this, did it seem to run better? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,
Scott

RE: K&N tune for Predator
I had to adjust the timming to stop the detonation I was getting under load. It was not nearly as bad with the 91 octane tune as it was with the 87 octane tune for some reason. I would get a bit of pinging under full throttle and when I would gas it while cruising. If I was at a steady speed I had no problems at all.

I installed my CAI and loaded the 91 octane tune. It seems to make a nice difference than stock. I wanted to load the 93 octane tune but can't find it on the predator. Have you had this problem or are you sticking with the 91 octane tune for another reason. When I pull up my performace tune option their is a 87 and 91 but no 93, am I not looking in the right place?

RE: K&N tune for Predator
good luck finding it or getting ANY help from DiaBLOWsport. I am really to beginning to dislike this tuner. I have no 93 octane tune, nor a tune for my CAI, nor does their "tech help" help
