Default Realistic Cost of Cams vs. Supercharger

This is probably a very open ended question, but I know that a lot of you have done cams and had a shop do them. Furthermore, I know that a few of you have done a supercharger and had a shop do it. I know there are many factors, but I'm looking to get a feel for what I'm looking at dollar wise to do some work to my car.

So, all things being new and retail, what kind of cost am I looking at to do either one and do it right?

The car is a 2005, bone stock GT with 29K miles on it. It's my daily driver and won't ever see a race track or drag strip. I want to keep it street friendly, which leads me toward the E-Force, but if I'm going to have upwards of $10K in a supercharger as opposed to $2-3K in cams and exhaust, I'm not sure the extra horsepower is going to be worth it. However, if the cost is negligeble, I may hold off and just go with a supercharger.

Thoughts?

If your car is bone stock, I would think there are serveral better/cheaper upgrades you could do than cams or a supercharger. There are a ton of "bolt ons" at your disposal.

I'm just thinking that cost wise, those seem to provide the most bang for the buck.

I know of quite a few shops that charge in the neighborhood of $800 for a supercharger install. Ford dealer quotes me about $1600. I can't speak for cam install.

I was standing on this same crossroad a couple of months ago.
I went with the cam/header combo...gonna run you about 2K installed.
Cheapest form of forced induction would be a V3 installed for about 5K.
More benefits with the cam's than just power with that sweet idle and shake, shake, shake at the stop lights
Would I like more power??? Sure, but I would want more at 425 too.lol
Do I need more power than I have with the cam?...not for DD purposes. I'm already the pace car from light to light, can't imagine another 100hp needed...but I wouldn't kick it out of bed either

finding used cams can be around 500-600, 3-4 hours labor, i personally would go for a whole exaust kit and prolly good conditions used cams, your car would sound mean has hell and give you way enough feeling for a dd, getting into S/C can sometime be a pain...all depend on your budget.

This. Adding a supercharger is like changing an intake. Cams are more involved.
