Been looking at upgrading stereo system as well. Looks like I'm going to end up with $1,500 head unit which is kind of sickening when I think about how I could upgrade my home pieces but Alpine perfect fit seems to be the right route if you go with a Mustang.
I went from a 2010 370Z to my GT. The insurance for the Mustang is about $400 cheaper a year. When I saw you were considering a Z01, it reminded me of why I now drive the Ford. A car like my Z (Touring/sport model) has a painfully stiff suspension. It made driving to and from work annoying. Of course, it was brilliant on the track. But I only track my car 2 or 3 times a year. That leaves 362 days of noisy, bumpy driving.

My 2013 GT Premium is fairly stiffly sprung, but it is nothing like the Z and is much quieter in the cabin. I have the AT and installed the Ford Racing GT performance pack. That comes with Shelby mufflers (much better sound) and a nice tune that adds a few hp, and makes the car just feel more powerful.

If I were to get a Vette, I would not get the Z01. I would get the sport. If you use the car as a DD, having a track animal gets old pretty quick.

Daily driver in the NE? Get the mustang. And order what you want, it's worth the wait. If you have a second vehicle for the winter, then get the vette. I put on snows and drive my 2012 no problem. Can't do that in the vette. Except for gas mileage, the mustang is a pretty practical car....for a sports car....
