Default Fuel Pump Bad?

I have a 2007 GT and from what I have researched so far it seems like my fuel pump is flawed and my Mustang isn't the only one. At certain times on the highway, after constant driving on cruise control and then to go to pass somebody and accelerate, the car stalls for a second and then kicks in. I've heard that this is caused by air bubbles in the fuel pump that was a TSB at one point. It's only happened a few times but when it does happen it scares the crap out of me and I'm thinking it needs to be fixed before its too late. So my questions are:

Is this actually the culprit? Like I said this is just what I've seen in research from other forums.
If this is the culprit, what sort of replacement fuel pump should I replace it with? Motorcraft or some sort of other OEM or is there an aftermarket to go with. I just need a standard pump to do the job bone stock internally.
And lastly, I consider myself pretty handy so how hard is it to replace the fuel pump. Is there a writeup for it somewhere?

Sorry for all the questions but just wanted to get some second opinions before I start attacking this head on. I really appreciate any input.

i have an 06 that experiences the same issue and I have read the same thing. Long runs at a constant speed create air bubbles in the fuel pump that cause a single hesitation upon applying throttle.

My 06 only does it after exiting a 30+ minute highway run and applying throttle from a dead stop. I am interested in the fuel pump replacement advice also.

Now would be a good time to upgrade if you ever plan on future mods, since you'll already be in there taking the pump out.

Replacing the fuel pump isn't that bad. It is much harder to do when replacing with GT500 pumps. The PITA is that the hole in the rear seat area does not always line up with the hole in the gas tank. You have to angle the pump to slide it in, connect the hose from the pass side tank, and then make sure the float is outside of a baffle inside the tank.

My 07 did this 2 or 3 times total. Drop it in 3 or 4 to pass and it would bog for a split second before taking off. Figured I would be ending up with GT500 pumps sooner than I planned.

But I took the throttle body off and thoroughly and completely cleaned it for the first time... Havent experienced this issue again. Ran it pretty hard after 30+ minutes on the highway several times also.
