Default Car starts, but can't raise top, use radio, turn signals, or shift into gear

Hi! Newbie here.

My father added a 2006 GT Convertible to his collection last month (he also has an 89 LX). He was driving it home from a parade yesterday, when all of a sudden the message center starting showing all of the warnings: low fuel, low oil pressure, DTE ODO error, etc. He got home, turned it off, and when he did so, every warning light on the dash stayed illuminated, even with the key out of the ignition.

He turned it back on, and it starts right away, but here is the problem:

- Can't shift the automatic transmission out of park (without using the emergency release)
- Can't roll up windows
- Can't raise the top
- Radio is on, but no sound
- All warnings still present on dash info screen

It drives once we use the emergency release and get the car in gear.

What could be the problem? It's got about 80k on it, so who knows how the previous owner treated it. I've found threads discussing one or more of these problems separately, but none that talk about them all happening at once. It's a bone stock car, ECU has never been reflashed to our knowledge. I pulled the positive cable on the battery for 15 minutes to try to reset the ECU, but it didn't make a difference.

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated!

Forgot to add, the turn signals don't work either, and neither do the headlights. BUT - the wipers work.

all of the inoperative features have the smart junction box in common. my bet is that its faulty. proper diag will be needed to verify. the SJB is a combination fuse box and processor module its located on the RH side of the underhood compartment. if faulty it will have to be programmed to the vehicle if replaced

I appreciate the quick answer.

So you think the box itself is defective, and not a relay or a fuse inside the box? What is the easiest way to diagnose this?

Also - the pictures I am seeing of the SJB put it in the passenger side kick panel, not under the hood, for a 2006.

These S197s are known for the drain plugs to get crammed full of crud causing the rainwater to overflow through the cabin air filter and into the vehicle on the passenger side soaking the floor and eventually causing electrical problems. Maybe this is your issue if you've never cleaned the drain plugs.

Sounds like the dreaded water leak. Lots of threads about that. Water drips into that SJB and causes all kinds of electrical gremlins.

Had it at the dealership today - SJB issue confirmed. Cleaned out the filters in the cowl, cleaned all connections, have a new SJB box on backorder (3 months!).

Car sorted itself out after sitting for 24 hours, but going to get this part changed so that it doesn't happen again. Thanks again for the help, everyone.
