Default 11 GT brake pad?

After a trip to the mountains in NC my stock brake pads drove me nuts! The rear does nothing but squeal the front has crazy amounts of brake dust! So the ford pads have got to go. What is everyone upgrading there pads to?

Thanks

are you sure you have factory pads? Did you glaze them by riding them down the mountains?

I bought the car used about 6 months ago. It only has 16k miles. So I assume it still has stock pads. They were squealing before I went on the trip. My harley did the same thing, the stock pads were just junk.

I have Akebono ProAct pads on my '06 GT and I love them. Very little dust, zero noise and they stop great. Got them through Tire Rack. I think they also have a Performance Pad now too.

The factory Ford pads are actually really low dust and silent, unless they get glazed (usually from riding the brakes during mountain driving/not engine braking on long descents). If the features you are looking for are quietness/low dust/longevity, the Ford pads are perfect for that.

If you want a more aggressive pad they will be louder and more dusty and eat away at you rotors, all for more stopping power and less fade, but it sounds like the opposite of what you are looking for.

Note that when I do mountain driving, I try my hardest to be in the right gear to never have to use my brakes on descents. I actually just went to the tail of the Dragon in North Carolina this summer and did a ton of mountain driving, but I'm using Hawk HPS pads (squeak when cold/a bit dustier/but more stopping power than factory pads).
