Break In Question

Break In Question
Just bought a new 06 GT. The manual says that there is no real break in period required while initially driving the vehicle. It just says to "try not to drive at the same speed during the first 1000 miles." Does this mean to avoid highway driving for prolonged periods? Can you still hit the highway as long as the speed varies? I unfortunatley can't avoid the highway during my initial driving period...

RE: Break In Question
Go fast until you catch up with traffic, slow down, weave back to an open stretch, and repeat. That should make highway driving fun
I don't see how ford expects someone to not drive at one speed though...sometimes you have to. Best thing you can do is not worry about and let the warranty do all the worrying

RE: Break In Question
I just broke her in on the first day. [:-] Picked her up at the port about 430 miles away. Went by train, got her and drove her home on the autobahn. Couldn't open her up too much as there was a whole bunch of traffic, but I was running 100 - 120 MPH consistently. 19mpg average which isn't bad at those speeds. She drove like a dream, no hood shake, no rattles, no floating on the road, it was just plain awesome!!!
