Default Window Tint Question

I read some where, don't remember where exactly, that the door window sweeps on 05-08' are made of a material that scratches the hell out of window tint. Anyone experience this?

Never had a problem with it as long as they use good quality tint.

It is not as bad as you may have read. I have a few scratches in my 06. I had them tinted the first weekend I owned the car and I bought it brand new. I remember at one point there was always someone talking about using a product called Moleskin to eliminate the scratching. I have never gotten to the point of feeling like I needed to purchase the Moleskin.

05 to early/mid 07's had the issue. The problem is that the material used was just rubber, no felt or other material that could sweep dirt off.

Owners that had the issue installed mole skin on the window channels to fix the issue. Ford in early/mid 07 changed the channels to include felt. Never had any issues with window tint scratches on my 08. With any car, always clean those sills when washing your car to get the dirt out.

Thanks for the replies! I found a kit for 30 bucks so I'll probably go that route.

I installed mole skin on the window channels and haven't had any issues with my tint job.
