Thank you SallyPickett for giving us the definition of a "Muscle Car"!!! Actually, I'm not being sarcastic (this time). In truth, that term is misused in the automotive world about as much as "Hot Rod" (Boyd Coddington doesn't build Hot Rods, he builds Street Rods). Hot Rods are the types of cars that were built 50 (+/-) years ago by gearheads who would take parts from different cars to make their old car quicker (my definition!). Traditional Hot Rods don't have air conditioning and independent suspensions.

Back to Muscle Cars - It seems that many people use that term for any car that has a beefy motor, when actually it only applies to factory-built hot-motored American cars (which is a whole other rant about what really is an American car in this global economy). Brace yourselves for this one, but most Mustangs are not Muscle Cars. Throughout its history, only a few Pony Cars fit into the general category of Muscle Car. Most Mustangs were/are merely general transportation for their owner. Cars with high horsepower engines are only Muscle Cars if the factory originally built them that way. If not, then they are souped up. I love souped up cars! People can modify them any way they want to suit their own wants & needs.

Edit: It is also worth noting that the "ricer look" is an automotive fad. It will most likely disappear before too long. Remember those straight-axle, nose-bleed dragsters of the 60's? How 'bout those cool customized vans in the 70's? Or the entire Pro-Street scene in the 80's? This too shall pass.

I thought ford4v429 was from Ohio. Do they modify Mustangs differently in Ohio? (Oops, I was being sarcastic again )
[/quote]

yep ohio- I was hanging out over at fordforums for quite a while- mostly aussie guys in there, some kinda neat variations of fords too- even if the wheel is on the wrong side. I couldnt believe the government restrictions those guys have to comply with- makes you realize how lucky we are that our government hasnt gotten that far out of hand.

I think the 'over here' mod comment was guided towards the links attached- EEW, some sad ricer pony pics there...but still, we can point and laugh (made me want to cry though...)

i have a few rules i try to follow when doing appearance changes (everyone should have their own )
1- if it's made of vinyl-don't
2-if it is applied with 3m tape-don't
3- if it costs less than $500 -think about it
4- (most important) never hang anything on your car you wouldn't hang on your living room wall. ( actually #4 is a modification of my thoughts on tatoo selection)

Now you're comparing motorcycles with Mustangs? That's a farce and ill-conceived strategy. Whatever point you're trying to make is now dismissed on grounds of your mental retardation.

RICVA05...

The picture you posted of the white charger with the 'lambo' doors. Lets think about this for a second... take a deep breath and rationalize with yourself... forget the fact you're trying WAY too hard in a futile attempt to "catch" me and disprove what I'm saying, or at the very least make my opinion less valuable.

OK... BP down to 120/80? BPMs around 80ish? If so, read on.

Let's say you see that car parked SOMEWHERE... or you see it driving down the road... if its doors are CLOSED, how easily would you be able to detect that it was modded?!?! Probably not very easily, unless you're some kind of expert in the field. Does that particular car SCREAM "look at me" when being driven or parked? Not likely.

Personally, unless I had some sort of handicap that required those doors, I'd never get them. Regardless, they're ridiculous, let alone a complete waste of money. BTW: sent the pic to the Mopar Mafia, $10K contract is out.

just saw that white Charger from the link and i must say something.......forget the look of the cars (Charger looks pretty cool by the way), that guy needs to buy some new shoes! if he has enough to spend on his cars then he "should" be able to afford some new clean looking shoes and outfit...hahaha......looks like some regular joe shmoe walked in front of the camera during the shot......just clownin' a bit. dont get butthurt over this. if thats the owner then i guess personal appearance is not an issue with him....hahaha. maybe its cuz im from SoCAL and all i see is music video looking people associated with good looking cars like that.

The rims and tires sure scream look at me not to mention the banner across the top of the windshield or is that a factory item.
Come-on Pickett who's BP is getting high see it is not just the Mustangs that are being riced out. The Mopar police are also falling asleep at the wheel.

So I guess you consider a Charger an all American Muscle car have you recently looked at who is making the Charger.

Company Ownership DaimlerChrysler is owned by European, U.S. and other international investors. Approximately one billion shares are circulating.

Global Stock The DaimlerChrysler share is traded on all of the world's key stock exchanges, among them New York, Frankfurt and Tokyo.

Chairman
Prof. Jürgen E. Schrempp
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

The chairman of DaimlerChrysler's name does not look to American to me and if you notice Chryslers name does not come first so I guess the Germans are making some pretty good American Muscle cars with 4 DOORS!
So, are you saying Dodge is NOT an American brand? If so, remember that shrink I mentioned earlier?!?

Dodge has a parent company that is foreign and sure, they've utilized some foreign chassis design... but last I read the Charger was generally designed and produced in the USA, by Americans for Americans... not in Deutschland by Germans for Americans and Germans. I don't recall seeing an import tax on a Dodge.
Most europeans wouldn't bother driving american muscle becuase they would die in the autobahn with all the twisties at those high speeds. That and they have uber chips on their shoulders regarding sub-par american quality (my car hasn't had any probs so...)

Second the new Hemi engines are built in Salitillo, Mexico..nothing American built about it. http://www.allpar.com/mopar/new-mopar-hemi.html
Designed in the U.S. sure but that's it. Nafta cleared the way for that out source.

Lastly you make random mentions about lambo doors and people trying to 'catch' you... and mafia hits..geez, listen to yourself paranoid. You call most non functional body mods rice but if it's not detectable and doesn't say look at me (But still pretty pointless or "the car comes that way") then it must be okay. How do you rationalize that? Okay so you don't like body modding a mustang. I can respect that, but it's your opinion. Your arguments seems a little extreme and wackadoo but that's my opinion. Some people think the spoiler on the newer Mustangs is rice...it is after all non functional along with the scoops. I think a newer (94+) mustang without a spoiler looks like a rental car.

4 cars doors will always = sedan - can never be a muscle car
2 cars doors will always = coupe - can be

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muscle_car

Take a look at Modern Muscle Cars - consider me a purist. 4-doors + big motor do not = muscle car to me. Same things goes with the Station wagon. You argue like a purist but wobble like someone that's just trying to justify their point of view.

Edit: or you just can't except another point of view and you won't concede anything until everyone's mind is changed.
