Default CAI/Homemade CAI question

OK, so having read as many CAI posts as I can find and after being riveted by the details of the homemade CAI that another subscriber built, I keep seeng this "85mm" that appears to be the size of the part of the intake tube that the MAF sensor is mounted to. In the homemade CAI, and other manufactured CAI's, it appeared that this 85mm part of the tube was narrower than the rest of the tube and would therefore be a bottleneck that would limit the amount of air that could otherwise get to the intake manifold... Does the section of the tube where the MAF sensor is mounted HAVE to be 85mm? Will it not work if you mount it in a bigger size tube?

Default RE: CAI/Homemade CAI question

The Granatelli Motorsports page has good info abou this.

Basically, the MAF sensor will be reporting lower air mass numbers than actual since the ratio between sensor and housing area will be affected.
