In my opinion that is a pretty good price. 17.5k sounds about right for those miles. I bought mine like 6 months ago 51k miles 15k. The tranny was grinding third gear as well and part of the deal was that they paid to have the tranny rebuilt by the shop of my choice. The tranny rebuild ended up costing them an additional 1200.

So I took a look at it and it is in (mostly) excellent condition. A couple of small blemishes on the outside, I suspect he may have smoked in it due to an ashtray addition but could not smell any smoke, looks like it was never abused.
I started talking about blue book (private party, excellent condition, $17,975) but the lowest he would go is in the $19,xxx's.
I just don't think that paying more than bluebook makes sense - am I wrong here? Should i expect to pay more than bluebook? I just don't want to be unfair or a lowballer.
Thanks,
C

More advice if ya haven't already bought it. Live in MD. I'd say 17k is fair, 16.5k good deal, 16k great deal. The KBB trade-in value in "fair" condition is usually around the wholesale value, you could just offer them around 1,500 above whatever that it. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the feedback - I thought the blue book was fair.
However, if I was like the fella who kept the car in the garage for the last 5 years was not interested in driving it (which) I am, I can see why someone would pay over blue book for it.
MD eh? I will keep an eye out - at this stage I would be more than willing to fly across country for the right mach and drive it home. Thanks for the advice pal
