gears
I was reading past threads and see that most people say 4.10's are the way to go. I have the opportunity to pick some up for 75 bucks. I am a poor college kid and was wondering about how much worse that will make my gas mileage and how much of a differencethey would make on the road/street compared to my 3.55's.
with 4:10s u wont see a decrease in mpg unless you do alot of hwy driving. 75 bucks isnt always a great deal on anything used tho, if they are For Racing gears in good shape id jump on them. If they are motive or some off brand i wouldnt bother with them. I like the 355s in the mach personally and in my opinion, you wont see a dramatic increase. Be prepared to buy an installation kit and unless you have a good hookup, its really is pricey to get them installed and done right.
The gears are ford racing gears and are brand new. A friend of mine with his 10 second5.0 put them in his car but didnt like them so took them off and got a different size. I also have a mechanic friend that would put them in for next to nothing but if spending what money i will for the stuff isnt worth the performance ill have to invest the money in something else that would be more worthwhile.
Why would gears need an installation kit?
