Default surprising race

My friend and I were hanging out and decided to race each other. He has a mustang gt its has exhaust, intake ,tb, and a tuner I believe, and thats all i know of. Its also a 5 spd. I have an automatic, magnaflow, h pipe and tuner. We raced from a 40 roll and barely beat him, not even a car length. What u guys think?

Well you have 40 hp over him stock. Your car breaths better. Sounds right.

the fact he is a 5spd helped him too if you were a 5spd you prolly would have pulled a lil more

sounds right. To be modded evenly, get the intake and throttle body. Your auto will pull from his 5spd more.

I agree with USMC. You should of pulled harder, especially from 40mph. Thats a good spot for our automatic Machs to hit 2nd gear with some RPM already built up and pull hard. Your mods are enough to get you a 13.0. That GT should be higher 13s, maybe a mid 13 on a RARE glory pass.

Did your car drop down to 2nd? If not, next time downshift it manually. Sometimes mine won't kick down like I want it to. Just wondering if yours came out of OD, but stayed in 3rd gear. That would've been enough to keep him within a car length of your Mach.

i've never tried it in a performance auto before, but in my wife's jetta i hold the brake and build the rpms and get in the jetta range....kinda brake boosting without the turbo

No, not yet, but he told me he had heads and cams though. And also I just put in the Jlt RAI intake today and im saving up to get a intake spacer and maybe a throttle body idk. But for christmas im getting LT headers woot. Then im going to save up for a dyno tune.
Merry christmas guys.

I would think that with heads + cams + the transmission advantage he should have been able to take you down.

You should definitely get a tuner and up your shift points a couple hundred rpm.

Heads and cams change things a bit. That race sounds a lot more accurate now. Good run Grif, you definitely had your hands full.

Merry Christmas.
