not meaning to steal a thread but need insight as well and you guys know what the hell you're talking about. Giving my Mach to trans guy this week. 3rd's been gone, 4th is going. You guys are talking about synchro or "upgrade" kits. What's economically better/more effective...give the man my car and just tell him to bulletproof it, or buy these kits and tell him to install them. I know jack shart about transies so any info is very helpful.

I talked to 7 different tranny shops and evidently there is a synchro kit that can be purchased which replaces all your synchros at one time. I don't know if they are able to just replace one or two or not as I don't know alot about them either. My advice is to call around to a few different shops and get some quotes and ideas. Maybe someone else can step in on this one too.

Be careful when taking her to a shop. One guy told me that he can't buy the kit for less than $1000!! I wanted to reach through the phone and slap his lying ****.

Rygi,
If i hadn't had the warranty i would've had the tranny shop install the kit after i purchased it....just so if it gets screwed up it's their fault

if he is getting oem parts they are expensive, but in my opinion worth it. my cost for the kit was $800.00 and i work for ford. luckily i was still under warranty.

OEM stuff is out of this world costly but worth it...for piece of mind if nothing else. If your cost was that much then that guy wasn't lying to Houghtown. The guy doing my trans is good as he's been doing it a long time and has built up a name for himself. Hell, his son put a trans in a friends stang like 15 years ago. He's told me he's already done many many 3650s, not just for stangs too. But man, stuff's too expensive.

Yeah that was probably OEM. What does a new 3650 cost nowadays anyway?? There is a shop here in town that has 3 of them new for $650 each. Not sure if that is one hell of a price or average.

+2^^^^T56, that extra .8 gear between our 1.00 and .62 would be soooo nice to have. Not sure what the 1st gear ratio is in a GT, but the Mach I think is 3.37 and the T-56 is only 2.97 so I'd say go steeper in the rear. If you wanted to go all out, the V Spec has the .50 OD which would be near perfect with 4.30s. Believe me, I know $ doesn't grow on trees though....hence, my upcoming TR-3650 build. Things are cheaper where you're at than here, but $650 for a 3650 would be very fair here.
