Default Tranny issues?

Hey guys I need a bit of insight. When shifting into 2nd i get a bit of grinding if i'm above a certain RPM almost like i'm not pushing the clutch all the way in. When trying to shift into t3rd when above about 3500 RPMs I can't even get the shifter in until the RPMs drop. Now when I drive extremely easy I can shift very easily. (This makes it difficult to race my brother in laws new Subaru WRX he's been talking smack about.) No other gears have any issues. I had my tranny fluid flushed and refilled but this didn't fix it. Any help is appreciated.

Thank you. That's what I was thinking. What did it cost you to get those replaced?

Just an update.....I called three different places. The cheapest is my local speed shop and they quoted me 300-400 bucks to completely rebuild the tranny. The highest was the local ford dealership. They wanted 800 bucks for just the labor. I hung up the phone. The mach has just over 70K on her so I guess rebuilding the transmission isn't a bad idea. It looks like my girl is going to be down for a few days.

Which route do you think you'll end up taking? Repair the synchro(s) or rebuild the whole tranny?

If you don't already have one get an Adjustable Quadrent/cable/firewall adjuster. Factory plastic quadrent is a nightmare and alone has been the cause of many grinds/missed shifts.

you dont have to rebuild the whole trans, the update kit comes with the 2-3 syncros and gears. i did it to mine and all the grinding issues went away. however it is a large job and took me just about the whole day.

+1 on the quadrant and firewall adjuster, i also swapped out the clutch while i was in there.

I've got the adjustable firewall and quadrant in already and that has come in handy. I think instead of rebuilding the tranny the guys will just put a new synchro kit in it. I've called 6 different shops and the average is about 800 for the labor and install. I'll stick with speedtek which installed my spec clutch and firewall adjuster. I guess I shouldn't haul *** everywhere I go but then what's the point of having the mach
