Suspension, braking and safety are my main concerns right now. Power is the last thing I need. I am just thinking about the Cobra cams because they are a cheap upgrade.

Jmac, I have 97 Cobra cams. From what I've read, they yield 15-25 hp with no tq loss when advanced six to eight degrees. However, I don't know if I can afford to have them installed and degreed. I know jack poop about cam installs so I thought I'd ask ya.......how much you reckon a shop will charge? I'm in agreeance with ya in that it's cheap power, but not if one has to pay for the install. If it's an absorbant amount I'll just sell them to you if you want. Sorry for hijack, you just sound like you'd have a good idea.

Incase Jmac or anyone else hadn't seen it, thought I'd post this helpful info while we're on the topic.

That chart is simply referring to intake cams, correct?

What is the difference between 1997 and 1998 Cobra cams?

Am I reading that right? I can get 401 hp at the flywheel with a cam swap alone?

They don't appear to have much effect until 5k rpm, then they make decent power pretty quick. I could see that paying off in the 1/4 mile. Should be good for a couple of tenths.

+1 on the 400bhp question.... thats gotta be a bolt on car, imo.

That car has to have head work an intake work done.

Correct, exhaust cams are same as ours. Nothing, 96-98 are the same.

Apples-to-apples cam comparison on a MODDED Mach. He was N/A with mac-daddy bolt-ons, or Mach-daddy bolt-ons. Still, the cams are the shiz. Jmac, did you have an idea of what I can expect labor to be for install and degreeing?

I have no idea. I have a friends buddy helping me. He owns a Mustang shop. It would probably cost me very little but a little of my time. I am working on the engine anyway and it is out of the car because I have two motors.
