Same thing happened to me last week when it was 96*. I had just replaced the thermostat a couple weeks prior, & thought all was fixed. I started limping home, & the temp came back down, to normal by the time I got home. I added some coolant to the overfill, & watching closely. Hasn't repeated, but makes me nervous. I detect a slight coolant odor too, but no leaks on the ground.

Nope. I check my coolant level evey time the car is cold, and have been adding a little every time to bring the level up to the "cold" line. The amount I add is getting less and less. I think the shop didn't fill mine up correctly when they did the t-stat. I read on Mach 1 registry the coolant refill is kinda complicated. I'm not finding coolant in the oil, so I don't think I have a head or block crack. I'm thinking my new t-stat got stuck for a few minutes. A/C has been working correctly since, and no overheating. Crossing fingers. May have it checked before we drive to Myrtle Beach for Mustang Week next month.

Mine haven't overheat since then, but a/c is not working... only hot air. I wonder what's wrong. I just bought the car a month ago, i have no place and no tools to fix/check it myself. I guess i'm gonna take it to the dealer. here in mexico most of the mechanic are bad or thieft!

my tempurature gage redlined Monday while traveling on the highway at 70mph. as soon as I got off the highway on to the back roads, it cooled down. The fluids are all full, and I believe the fan is working fine. Any ideas what happened?

On the 4V motors you have to add coolant to the plug on the crossover. What is in the overflow is no indication of the actual amount of coolant in the system.

03tripleblack, if you perform the procedure in the link above I'm almost certain you will find that it will still take a large amount of coolant even though it appears to be full.
