They used 8 cars and most were rebadged GT's with KR bodykits. Whipple H.O. was used with the 4.6 3V engine. I am sure they had an actual KR but it was never in any way used for anything that would depreciate the value of the car (other then what the show did to the value 
). I cant find the link to a look inside the KITT car. The engine bay was a mess of wires all hanging and tangled like a spider web. Big disappointment but I think any press (including the show) is good for Ford as I dont hold the poor ratings of the show against Ford and seeing any Ford regularly on TV (which has a following believe it or not) is good for Ford. All the other companies that were offered to be KITT declined. Sad thing is Ford was not asked first. WIsh we had some smilies for "rant off" .....
