Future Mustangs....

Unfortunately it is, its gone up up in length, width, ride height and weight... the 2010 looks smaller than it is because of the design but in reality is bigger than the current mustang... maybe its just me comparing apples to oranges but you have new cars like the 370z that weight less have more power and cost the same as their last generation. I think the mustang needs to go on a major diet but thats just me and while it could be shot back that americans keep getting bigger, I am about 6'2 200lbs so im definitely not a small guy.

The S197 is bigger than the previous SN-95s because the platform that Ford chose to build the new Mustangs on was a bit bigger. But also remember....it's a much more rigid chassis than the SN-95's were too. You don't get to add rigidity and stability without adding weight...unless you want to start using high priced lightweight materials that jack the cost of production way up. And the 2010's are not bigger than the 05-09's......it's the same damn car. It has gotten a wee bit heavier because of the new interior components, better sound deadening, and beefier suspension components.
Oh, and I LOL at the notion that the latest pony/muscle cars have gotten bigger and heavier because Americans have gotten bigger/fatter. So what does that mean for all the ppl who are driving smaller and smaller cars?....are those ppl shrinking?

I always though the newer cars looked too big and all cars are getting bigger. For christ sakes the tailgate of my dads new F-150 is up to my chin. But when you think about it, do you guys remember what they used to weigh about 40 yrs ago?
